Since 2006 we have successfully designed and delivered hundreds of smart home projects. We have a tried & tested process to ensure that each system is specified to meet the exact requirements for each individual client.
At the very beginning of a project, we are frequently asked to join the consultancy team, just before or after planning permissions have been received. This is by far the best time to speak to us as our scope of works often impacts other aspects of the overall design.
London AV Solutions offer consultancy services which are designed to help get a project to tender stage. We work closely with the client to scope their requirements in terms of functionality and budget. A comprehensive design pack is then put together which includes schematics, power requirements and space requirements based on the agreed scope. To ensure the client receives an accurate overall budget for the works, this pack can be sent to the chosen contractors who will be tendering for the main construction works, so it can be included in their costs.

Our Consultancy Process
Discovery
Asking the right questions to ensure that the system is designed to meet your needs - the most important element of any project is the 'Discovery' phase.
Discovery
The first step of any client journey is for us to truly understand the requirements for the project.
We encourage meeting either at your property, online or at our Showroom where we can get to meet you and understand a bit about you, your family, home and lifestyle. We ask a number of key questions to fully understand how you will use your system. For example, how many people live at the property, what content do you watch on TV, how do you get your music etc.
It is really useful to see the floor plans to help us understand your property and the layout. We go through each room to discuss how the rooms will be used and what requirements there might be for music, TVs, and control devices. We can also help with larger scope items such as access control, intercoms, Wi-Fi coverage to external spaces or outbuildings.
It is crucial to pay careful attention to any likes/dislikes or previous positive/negative experiences to ensure that these are taken into consideration when scoping and designing the new project
We also add our experience and creative ideas to the discussion, suggesting clever ways to overcome any challenges which may arise. We like to highlight what is possible and future proof the project with forward-thinking and cutting-edge solutions.
At this time we would also provide the client with detailed, line itemised costs for the system we have scoped. We pride ourselves in ensuring our proposed system meets your budget requirements. In our view, there is little reason to proceed to design a system which is unrealistic in terms of budget. We can help you to value engineer the proposal to a point where you are comfortable proceeding to the next step.
Design
Once the scope has been defined in respect to budget and functionality we then produce a tender design pack.
Design
At London AV Solutions we have an in-house design team responsible for creating the detailed documentation required for your tender pack.
The pack will include the following:
- Overall cabling schematics
- Power requirements
- Rack elevations and space requirements
- Lighting Control circuit schedules
- Lighting & Blinds panel details
- Equipment schedules
- Cable schedule
- Heat output calculations
These are shared with the client via a Dropbox link. We are then open to any questions and to discuss the specification further.
